There is no game screen. Every reel, rating and guess arrives as an Instagram DM from @playreel.io, and you answer by tapping the buttons in the chat. This site only handles the lobby and the final scores.
Once a game starts, the group is locked
“Rate It”
You're handed someone's reel and have to decide who in the group will like it most — because you score whatever they rate it. Nobody ever finds out it came from you until the round is over.
Best for
The group chat that never actually meets up. Every turn happens privately in your own DMs, so nobody has to be in the same place — or even online at the same time. Play it over an afternoon while everyone's off doing their own thing.
Each player DMs 3 reels to @playreel.io. They all go into one shared pile — from here on, nobody knows which reel came from whom.
Each round, one player is the sender. A random reel from the pile lands in their DMs. They don't choose it — they only choose what to do with it.
The sender taps one other player to send it to. This is the whole game: pick the person who'll rate it highest. The receiver is never told who sent it.
They watch it and just type a number back. That number is the sender's score for the round — so a 9 is a jackpot and a 2 stings.
The rest of the group gets the reel plus the rating, and has to work out who gave it that score. The sender stays anonymous, so they're still a suspect.
Once everyone's guessed, the round opens up: who rated it, what they gave it, and — finally — who sent it. Then the next sender is up.
The sender rotates in a random order, but everyone sends the same number of times. The game ends after everyone has sent once — or more, if the host sets extra laps.
“Guess Who”
One reel, everyone's DMs, one question: whose feed did this crawl out of? Your algorithm knows things about you, and this is the game where it tells.
Best for
A pregame, a long dinner, the stretch of the night where everyone's on their phone anyway. Play it shoulder to shoulder and out loud — half the fun is the accusations flying across the table while you all watch the same reel.
Each player DMs their reels to @playreel.io. The whole pile gets shuffled.
Each round, one reel from the deck is sent to every player at once — including whoever submitted it.
Tap the name of whoever you think posted it into the pile. Everyone votes on the same reel, and the round only moves once all votes are in.
The owner is revealed, scores update, and the next reel goes out. When the deck runs dry, the game ends.
